Government-Donor Roundtable 14 November 2008

On 14 November 2008, the DSDC in cooperation with the DTS held a Government-Donor Roundtable attended by Government Ministers and senior donor representatives. The Roundtable was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Genc Pollo, who gave an overview of the progress towards the EU and NATO integration process, and pointed out issues related to the process of donor co-ordination and further steps to be taken for the implementation of Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and Accra Agreement for Action. The Roundtable was addressed by the Minister of European Integration, Majlinda Bregu and the Director of Aid Co-ordination Unit in the DSDC, Valbona Kuko from the Government. From the donor community, the DRT was adrressed by the Head of the EC Delegation, Ambassador Helmuth Lohan and the UN Resident Coordinator and current chair of the DTS, Gulden Turkoz-Cosslett. The roundtable discussed issues related to ensuring a stable public administration, the need for facilitating the process of VAT reimbursement, increasing the role of sector working groups and the need for identifying the priorities in order to meet the targets set out in the Paris and Accra agendas.
