  International Consortium Plenary Meeting

ic-plenary-webThe Steering Committee of the International Consortium convened the Plenary Session on 15 April 2010 gathering high-level representatives from Ministries of Justice and Interior, General Prosecutor’s office, State Police, other institutions related to Justice and Home Affairs sector and DSDC. EU, OSCE, PAMECA, EURALIUS, UNICEF were some of donors that attended the meeting. The aim was to review the annual progress of all ICITAP sub working groups. U.S Deputy Chief of Mission Deborah A. Jones, EU Delegation Ambassador Helmuth Lohan, and OSCE Ambassador Bosch in their opening speeches congratulated ICITAP for organizing the meeting and thanked all donors for their support. The meeting underlined that more should be done for the law enforcements to supersede and have full compliance with EU standards. General Prosecutor Ina Rama gave an overview of donor support to Prosecution Office underlining good cooperation between government institutions and ICITAP and other donors involved in the area of justice. The plenary followed with detailed presentations and report from each sub sector working groups. Among other issues, the session highlighted the need for a stable public administration as a key factor to successful reforms and encouraged better cooperation toward relentless fight against corruption. Such session is held yearly and aims to serve as an important forum for information exchange about activities, obstacles, and achievements in the area of justice and home affairs. IC Plenary helps every subgroup to report in a single meeting, thus sustaining a better coordination among donors in continuously harmonizing government policies.
